Recap of Refashion Runway: Season Five and Do You Want a Season Six?

Some of you might be asking What is Refashion Runway Anyway?

As a refresher, Refashion Runway is a friendly sewing competition.

Here’s how it works:

Much like Project Runway and The Great British Sewing Bee, we’ll choose eight refashion seamstresses (or seamsters) to compete in weekly challenges. The contestants will send in before and after videos or photos. I will post all of the before and after photos and/or videos so you can vote for your favorite. The refashions will then be scored by judges and open to a popular vote. The scores will be combined to find a weekly winner and one competitor will be out (not without a prize for participating though). At the end of the series, whoever is left will not only receive a nice prize but will be crowned the winner of Refashion Runway.

It’s such a great way to meet new people who love to do the same thing we do.

Season Five of Refashion Runway was so much fun and also huge success!

The Statement Sleeve Challenge started Refashion Runway: Season Five off with a bang.

It had me hooked from the moment I opened up the email with Beki’s unique sleeves made from candy wrappers and window screen to Deana’s magnificent sleeves made from a man’s suit.

Next the contestants worked their disco magic on the 1970’s challenge. (See all of the 1970’s challenge entries here.)

Fleetwood Mac, tie-dye and bell bottoms made from couches ruled this challenge.

The Faux Fur Challenge continued to entertain and amaze with some beautifully cozy, warm refashions.

Refashion Runway challenges are wide open to interpretation and the Southwest challenge was no exception.

The last but definitely not the least challenge was the Kentucky Derby Hat challenge.

I wish we would’ve all lived close enough to have our our Kentucky Derby Party to celebrate another successful season of Refashion Runway.

Hey you Beth, miss you. I thought a patching class at Art Center East would be fun… it is so trendy now. I have been wanting to try some Sashiko. What do ya think? Teresa

Hi Beth, There was no survey at the top of my email 😦  I don’t know if it’s because of something on my end, but I thought you might like to know. I would absolutely love to see another Refashion Runway.  I had forgotten exactly how much I enjoyed it until I saw the pictures of the fabulous creations from Season 5.  The participants are so creative! And so I vote YES YES YES. I hope that all is well with you and your family, JanetAKA Mother Deer
