For those group shirts you get from school/company/race/sport etc. that come with a high crew neck that seems to choke you and you’d like to feel like you had a little more breathing room….
Many women also choose a V-neck because it draws the eye up toward the face and creates a heart shape. It can also create an illusionary effect that elongates the body — and who doesn’t want that? Even if you’re not an experienced sewer, you can transform your crew necks into flattering V-neck shirts in just a few simple steps.

The old style tee is so ugly, glad you are restructuring them.
Thank you Claire! The V-neck is definitely more comfortable and flattering.
Just tried it on my mom’s t-shirt. Worked great!

Hi Lori! I’m so happy this was helpful!!!
What a great tutorial! Thank you! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
What a nice thing to say, Marci. Thanks for brightening my day. 🙂
Great t-shirt reconstruction idea! I usually will create a v-neck on a t-shirt by simply cutting off the originally at a diagonal. Sometimes that un-finished look isn’t what I want though.
Thank you, thank you! I had been told how to do this a couple of years ago, but your instructions are about 100x better. Now maybe I can wear some of my race t-shirts.
You’re so welcome Janine. Just make sure you only cut an inch or inch and a half down. Otherwise you’d have to add some ribbing to the neckline. Have fun!!
Fab video Beth!! More please! 🙂 X
Thanks for watching Gema!!!
Wait…WHAT? All these years, Beth. ALL. THESE. YEARS!!!
🙂 🙂 🙂
I wonder if you could cover how to do almost the reverse – turn a v neck into a rounded scoop neck! I have too many v neck t-shirts and sweaters and that neckline just doesn’t suit me.
Hi Lily, I’ll have to think about that one…
Unable to view full site due to large advertisements popping up and staying..unavle to advance forward or backward for at least 70sec. Frustrating! Btw, unable to report to Pinterest on their site, claims this site was “inaccessible”…..
Hi Kathy,
I’m sorry to hear you’re getting bombarded with advertisements on my blog. I checked out my site using my phone and computer and it’s not happening to me. May I ask what kind of device you’re using so I can see if I can get that fixed?

As a new sewer the video was too fast. I wish it was slower
