My friend, Jakki!

It’s Monday morning, the first meeting of the week is about to start and in walks Jakki. Handmade felt Valentine pins overflow from the basket she carries.  Instant sunshine!

I know we were meant to be friends.

But oh no, it didn’t stop there! She proceeded to give us each a beautifully wrapped Valentine gift with a handmade card to boot. Each one made specifically for the recipient.

Not only did she place dots around the heart, but look how she outlined each one with a different color. Just getting this card made me feel so special!

Just when I thought the fun was over, she pulled out another handmade gift for each of us!

A handmade tablecloth to use for our classroom parties. The details in her work are incredible. Each stitch perfectly sewn with love for her friends. Jakki is one of the most thoughtful people I know. Genuinely interested in what you are doing.  Always finding things along her way that you might like. Quietly blessing everyone around her.

Thanks for being my friend, Jakki!

Love,

Beth

Rustic Chic Wedding

Before you begin to read this post, turn up your volume, click below, and scroll slowly through the images for the full experience! 🙂

On this Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share a beautiful wedding with you.

Last fall, I was blessed to be the mother of this gorgeous bride.

The rustic chic wedding took place at an amazing restored barn in High Valley, Oregon.

To me, it was magical.

There wasn’t a breath of wind and the setting sunlight was slightly orange as Katie and her dad emerged from the barn, while an old time waltz, played by Evie and Rick Mugrage on fiddle and guitar, echoed off the surrounding hills and mountains.

(I cry just thinking of it).

She looked stunning with the barn, the blue sky, and the green grass as her backdrop.

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!

You’re invited to my virtual launch party next Saturday!

I’ve just opened my new Etsy store.

Textiles and papers fascinate me. Fabrics & handmade, domestic and imported papers are a great source of inspiration. I dream of ways to use the different colors, designs and textures. In my card collections, I use many fabrics and fibers, imported and handmade papers, and found & recycled objects. I truly love the creative process of combining all these elements to create custom cards, envelopes and invitations.

You can see some my latest cards and fabric envelopes here.

Here is a preview of what you’ll find in my shop. Each card is handmade and comes with a fabric envelope that can be sent in the mail.

Next Saturday, February 18, you’re invited to the Virtual Launch Party. Each hour, starting at 5 am, I’ll be giving away some of my cards. To be eligible for the giveaways, you’ll need to do any ONE of the following things:

Pin-spiration

This outfit I saw on Pinterest made my mouth water. (No it wasn’t the ice cream cone.) I just knew I could make something similar if I tried. Found this big blue shirt at the thrift store and just started to cut.

I turned it backwards on the dress form and marked the new neckline.

Next, I sewed a small rolled hem.

Then pinned some pleats and sewed 2 lines of stitching about a half inch down. And took in the sides about 4 inches on each side.

I then decided I need to gather the waistline and came across this tutorial on shirring with elastic thread.

Here are the results so far. I’m working on the turquoise necklace right now and I’ll post it when I finish it.

The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree…

Brown eyes, straight hair, AND the re-purposing gene?!!?? I guess it’s true, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. My daughter Katie created an upcycled memo board from an old lonely shutter she found at the thrift store.

After painting and sanding, she added the star at the top, some clothes pins and turned it into a fun memo board.

I’m a proud mama! 🙂
