OK, so maybe, just maybe I cheated a little bit.

I love the look of embroidered jeans, so fresh and happy, but seriously, I just don’t have the time to embroider myself. Someday maybe “slow sewing” will become a part of my life, but until then….
I’ll keep bringing you ideas on how to refresh your wardrobe when you’re on a time and/or money budget.

This is a great way to add embelishment to jeans. It is still a bit time consuming but definately less so than doing all that embroidery by hand!
Thank you, Angela! I think the Heat and Bond that I used was old and had a few spots that didn’t adhere so I tacked it down. Maybe if the iron-on adhesive paper was new, you wouldn’t have to do the extra sewing.

When you cut out the various flowers, did you try to leave a thin sliver of background denim around them to be able to tack them to the jeans or just tack down the flowers themselves?
I did leave a sliver of denim around the flowers but I’m sure you could do it either way. My friend Linda and I were talking about how you could even leave a little more denim and possibly use your sewing machine to tack them down. I hope this helps. 🙂
Well, I don’t know if you could use your machine on the flowers going up the whole leg, they may not open up wide enough to get a single layer down. Your jeans seemed to match the denim background of the flowers very well so they looked just like they were embroidered on.
You’re right, I guess you’d have to take the inside seam out to machine sew them on. I know the Heat and Bond that I used was pretty old, I wonder if it would’ve adhered better if it had been new.
You erred on the side of caution by also sewing the flowers down, I would do the same. In the wash, parts here and there would likely start coming free. I will determine how much edge to leave by the color contrast with the jeans they’re being appliqued on to. Still fabu idea! Thank for your advice.

My school closed due to low enrollment 😦 I was transferred to another much larger school. Things are very different but glad to have my job. I’ve been slow on the refashion scene as a result of all the changes but I am trying to regain my momentum. Happy new school year to you!
We just moved to a brand new beautiful school. I never dreamed in a million years that I would be fortunate enough to teach in a classroom as amazing as my new room. Lots of work to pack up and move but totally worth it. Can’t wait for you to get your sewing mojo back on and see what you create. 🙂
