I always have the best intentions every spring.
“I’m going to lose those extra pounds and fit into my favorite shorts again.”
But somehow July rolls around, it’s hot and the shorts don’t fit yet.
I could just give them away, or better yet, how about adding some fun fabric to the sides and calling it good.
Check out my latest eHow video that shows you how to do this.
Here’s the Youtube version, because I just realized that if you’re not on Facebook, you couldn’t see my other videos.
Here’s the Facebook version.
It just aired 9 hours ago on Facebook and has over 240,000 views. That’s almost a quarter of a million! Wow. So. Much. Fun!!! (I know my cute model Rylee has a lot to do with all those views. Thanks again for being such a good sport, Rylee!)

Hello ! it seems so easy that I feel like cutting my old jeans right now ! thanks a lot for this video. have a wonderful summer.
I hope you’re having a wonderful summer as well, Carine! Have fun with this trick, I hope it’s helpful. π Please let me know if you have any questions.
When I read “just add some fabric to the sides” I suddenly thought, “hey about some good heavy-duty knit!?” π Like a wild and strong bathing suit fabric? Thank you for the inspiration! I never would have thought of this and now my head is exploding with ideas π
Yes you could use scuba material. Have fun with this the possibilities are endless.
Brilliant!
Thank you Janine!

Thank you for these videos. I especially liked the one about enlarging the shorts! I’m going to remember that one!
I’m so happy this will be helpful for you. Happy Sewing!
Great idea! So easy and so cute! Will you be hosting the refashion runway challenge again this year? π
Oh, I’d LOVE to host another Refashion Runway. It’ll probably happen in the fall sometime. Wow. It’ll be season 5 already. So fun.
I’m giving you a HUGE number of points for recognizing that not everyone has (or wants) a Facebook or Instagram account. Thank you for thinking of those of us who prefer to stay off of social media! You can’t imagine how many blogs and sites don’t take that into consideration. π
I didn’t realize until just recently that if you don’t have a Facebook account, the videos weren’t available. I hope you’re able to view the other version I posted. π
Awesome idea! I asked myself, “Why not?” after watching your ingenious video. EmmaOneSock.com has some embroidered denim that is almost a mirror image to your sample insert. The fabric is offered at a great price.
Thank you for the heads up on some fabric Kathleen! The fabric I used was actually cut from a large denim thrift store shirt.
