Tote bags are an easy first project if you’re just learning to sew or a wonderful way to get back into sewing to refresh your skills. Even if you’ve been sewing for years, tote bags are fun projects to make for gifts or even for yourself.

When Becky Olk invited me to be a guest on the midwestern lifestyle show, Happi House, I jumped at the chance to hang out with them again. In this episode, Happi and I make this tote bag together.

I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed filming it with the creative and fun Happi House crew.

Ah, the Singer Genie, the first sewing machine my mom bought for me when I was in high school! It was a tank and a bit tension challenged but I have kept it for nostalgia. So seventies! Just discovered your blog and it’s great to know that other people love to refashion awesome fabric from lass than desirable items. Thanks for the inspiration and community.

I wonder if I could make this out of faux leather reclaimed out of an old skirt?
