Most days I wake up and when my feet hit the floor, I’m accomplishing things. Whether it’s laundry and dishes, heading to work, or creating some content for eHow, there is always something on my agenda. Most of the time, I love being busy, it’s who I am. But there are those days, like yesterday, when I force myself to stop, slow down, and breathe. I didn’t even get out of my pajamas. Gasp!
There was something very comforting about giving myself a day off and wearing these soft, handmade, sweater slippers all day long.
And no, I didn’t knit them. Knitting and I haven’t become friends yet. I made them from an old sweater a few weeks ago and I gotta say, they are so cute and comfy, I wish I could wear them everyday!

I am reminded of how Mom (Germaine) made clothes for us, often from the fabric of discarded coats, and other, now called re-cycled and up-cycled, fine pieces of perfectly good fabric. Beth Huntington is an inspiration for me, and perhaps you, to stop sending stuff to the landfill. With all of the talents Mom passed down to my sisters and I, I find myself validating all needle crafts and fibre arts, in a way that I’ve never done before. You’re part of that Beth.

I don’t know how you keep doing it, Beth – you come up with the most useful and attractive things made from recycled clothing. My feet are hard to fit, so making my own slippers is a very appealing idea. And I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating – your tutorials are second to none. So easy to follow. That must take quite a lot of time, so thank you for having the patience to do such a good job.
