Ok now, I would seriously wear my new refashioned sweater dress EVERY day if I thought nobody would notice. It is super comfy (especially since my sweet tooth has been running amok over the holidays) and it is super warm. I’ve already worn it to a Winter Solstice party, a Christmas Eve family get together, just around the house, and it’s definitely going with me to a New Year’s Eve party up at our local ski resort, Anthony Lakes.
You, too, can make one quickly and easily in under and hour with a couple of thrift store sweaters.
Once again, eHow has generously published my tutorial. I’m not sure if they realize just how much they have done for me. Jerri Farris came along at just the right moment and offered me an opportunity to do something I love to do. She was a part of one of my many miracles of 2013. It really is a dream come true for me.
And it wouldn’t have happened without you.
You all have been so kind by leaving comments over at eHow and pinning my projects. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciate each and every comment. I’ve felt like Santa by giving away clutches and Smittens to a few of you.
To continue the season of giving, I’d like to have another giveaway. As much as I’d like to give away this dress…… I just can’t part with it. 🙂 However, I did make a pair of Smittens from the sleeves of the sweater and I’d like to give them away to one of you. (That’s the next best thing, right?!!?)
All you have to do to be entered into the giveaway is click here to the sweater dress tutorial, pin it to one of your Pinterest boards and leave a comment on my eHow post. I will choose a lucky winner on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
Happy New Year!
Beth

Gracias!
I love the after of that sweater dress. So cute.
Thanks so much!
I love it, too. I wish you’d have done something with the beautiful top of the sweater.
I actually made mittens from the top of the sweater. Couldn’t just let that beautiful top go to waste. 🙂
What a great dress. I live in these comfortable sweater dresses and tunics all winter long. And love this look with boots and tights. I now changed my weekend plans, thank you for such a great idea and project!
You are so welcome! Have fun and I’d love to see your dress when it’s finished.
So cute! And you make it seem so easy, I may even attempt this myself! 🙂
If you do get a chance to try it, Amy, be sure to let me know if you have any questions. I’d be happy to help. 🙂
Thank you! I will definitely hit you up if I get stuck 🙂
Amazing as always!

You are so welcome, Mari! I’m still finding little “miss you” sticky notes around my classroom. Love you!
Yes ma’am! I think I can do this!! My local thrift store had a $2 sweater store and I cleaned up…
I KNOW you can do this, Tondra! I can’t wait to see your version of this dress.
This is adorable, Beth, and you wear it so well! You have perfect timing…I was just thinking to myself *this very morning* that I needed a good sweeter dress!! I think I shall need to make one of these. Oh, and by the way, just wanted to let you know I said some nice things about you in a post over at my blog today….http://gladness-of-heart.blogspot.com/2014/01/top-5-of-2013-inspirations.html

Thanks so much, Nout! It really is warm and cozy. I seriously would wear it everyday if I could. I guess I better make a few more. 🙂
Cute and very cleaver . I’ll have to try this too. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome, Janet. Hope you enjoy this quick and easy project.
I love this. What a great idea. I was making skirts out of men’s sweaters this season, but I do like this idea a lot too!!
Thanks, Jill. Have fun!
Fabulous dress and it looks pretty easy! I’m going to bookmark your tutorial as my dad is getting rid of sweaters that he does not wear anymore and they should work out nicely for this.
That would be great to use some of your dad’s sweaters. Have fun and I’d love to see them when you’re finished.
Thank you for this! Sweater dresses with a clingy skirt aren’t so flattering on me, so I look forward to trying this, tailored a little looser in the skirt.
You are so welcome, Debbie! I don’t do clingy anymore either. 🙂 Have fun!
I was just looking at a sweater dress in my closet today, from X pounds ago (hah), and wishing it still fit … never even considered I might be able to make one! I don’t know how you keep coming up with the ideas but I’m so glad you do.
What is it they say, Jo? Necessity is the mother of invention????
Great, great ideas! Have sewn all my life and your ideas are all wonderful and money saving.
Thank you, Elaine! Hope you have fun with this!

Love it! I might have to give it a try with some old sweaters I got.
Hi Magda, I hope you get a chance to make one, you would look great in this dress!!!
You look great in that outfit. I love this dress so much I don’t even need an incentive to pin it. 😉
Thanks for pinning!
You do look great in that outfit. And warm and comfy, too.
Thanks, Jill!
Amazing. Your site is amazing! Please come and teach me to sew??!! I just have simple projects and I’m terrified to try. You make it look so amazing and fun…did I already mention amazing?
Thank you so much, Traci!
I’ve been thinking about making some sort of maxi dress (or skirt) out of sweaters. I love your sweater dress. It looks so comfy! 🙂
~Jen
This would be great for a maxi dress, too. Extra warm and comfy. I can’t wait to see what you create!!!
I’ve been so busy I haven’t had much time to refashion lately
and you know how when you get out of the habit of doing something sometimes you just loose momentum/inspiration? This dress is totally restoring that, I’m definitely gonna check out the tutorial and maybe even sew one up today 🙂 Thanks, Beth!
That makes me so happy, Miche! Have fun and stay warm!!!

I’ve been learning so much with you. You’ve been bringing up my childhood dream which is to learn how to sew. I appreciate all techniques you’ve been teaching to all of us which is through them we can give wings to our imagination
Hi Marcela! We just started a Learn to Sew series if you’d like to follow along. You can find it here. https://chicenvelopements.wordpress.com/2015/12/26/learn-to-sew-a-new-series/
I can’t tell you how many times my daughter and I have seen clothes in thrift stores and popular retail stores and said, ‘this would be perfect if we could only change this.’ You have such a good eye for fashion. I would have never thought to do some of your before and afters. Your tutorials are so inspiring and look so easy to follow. I can’t thank you enough.
I’m really amazed at your huge creativity, a priceless gift.
All of them super super
Thanks so much!!
I just found this, but the tutorial is gone on eHow! I need those instructions 🙂
