Cynthia Anderson is a girl after my own heart and she has some of the luckiest children on the planet. Her new book, Upcycled Fashions for Kids, is filled with ideas for creating one of a kind, upcycled creations for kids. If you enjoy refashioning and have some children in your life, then you’ll love this book. She shows you 31 ways to upcycle sweaters, t-shirts, scraps and linens into clothes that both boys and girls would be proud to wear.
My favorite project is the Ivory Wood Sprite Dress that she created from nothing but white and ivory scraps, bits of ribbon and some pearls from a broken necklace. I’m so inspired by the beautiful fabric roses on the sash, and crushed silk bodice. I want to make one for myself. 🙂

I’d love to have a copy of this book because a women’s service group at my church is looking for ways to repurpose clothing for boys (as well as girls, but that’s the easy part!) so that the clothing can be donated to children in need through the church care center. This group has created repurposed clothing for girls in the past and was wildly popular in the care center, but the care center director noticed that the little boys ‘shopping’ with their parents felt a bit left out. I’m on a mission to discover ways that clothing can be repurposed for boys so that I can share and act on it! 🙂

I’m in love with the book already! I have several small children that I love to sew and refashion for. They beam when I make things for them. It’s so rewarding since they are always so appreciative and excited and then they actually wear it! And my 14 year old daughter loves to refashion as well. We have so much fun sewing together. She even has her own sewing blog, which I will be featuring on my blog soon with one of her projects that she’s recently made. I know she would enjoy this book as much as I would. OMGness!! This book is for ME! I have been trying since my little lady was born to up-cycle her clothes from my boys’ clothes. 😉 They always still look like ‘something I made.’ Then there are my boys who always feel left out. “Why don’t you make stuff for me?” I don’t have a clue where to start for them. Several of my military chapel wives love what I do and have asked me to help them. So, occasionally, I have them over and show them how to start. My feeling is that there is no sense in filling landfills with boys’ holey jeans, when we can use them to make a girl’s skirt!
I would love to have this book as inspiration for some homemade gifts for children in my family.

I would love to have this book! I have 11 grandkids ages 20 down to 1 and am just getting back into sewing for kids. I did a lot when my four children were small but ran out of time with work and all of their many activities. Fabric is so expensive these days and I am looking for a way to make them special items, something just for them. I have only four grandsons and they feel a little left out sometimes.. It would be great to surprise them with something special, not just something for the girls. I’m so excited about being able to create clothes again!
As a teacher in a tight budget, I’m always looking for ways to save on clothes. One way is by up cycling clothes for my two daughters, which. I’ve been doing since I knew it was a “thing”. Sadly, I get in a rut when it comes to ideas…I end up doing te same thing over and over again, which is why it’d be nice to have that book so my daughters’ closets can have a bit more “up upcycled variety”!

I would love to create the one of a kind kid outfits as gifts and to teach the kids the importance of being unique. They can learn to save $ in their piggy banks instead of buying expensive name brands off the rack! Congratulations on reaching the future generation.
With 2 Great granddaughters 1 & 4 12, they are always outgrowing their clothes. With mom in college, I like to help out when I can. As a family who is interested in reuse and recycling, this book would be a great asset. I have been sewing for 0ver 50 years and don’t see an end in sight. I enjoy helping my girls make ends meet by making some of the girls clothing.

I have a little one who loves it when I make us matching outfits. She is two and a half. Soon she isn’t going to want to match mommy and I want to make her happy without breaking the bank.
I used to upcycle 20 years ago before I knew it had a name. Once my daughter came along, I quite sewing all together, since it is just me and my daughter, I could not find the time. She is six now and at 4 and half feet tall and counting. She is growing so fast and I can’t afford new things and sometimes “thrifty” is not in our budget, so I am trying to get back into the sewing game. I have taught my daughter some simple sewing techniques and I can’t wait to show her how to repurpose some of her clothes with pride and appreciation. I would love to enjoy this book with her, so that we can work on projects together.

Love making kids’ clothes
I love seeing the newest projects! The idea of kids clothes being recycled fits right in with this Nana helping clothe 8 grandkids! What a way to economize and to provide “new” clothes for them!
I love to upcycle. I have made a few things this way and am always looking for new ideas. My daughter loves to create new things as too. Our recent efforts were for her Halloween costume. It is made from two sweaters and other odds and ends. She is 8 and loves creating things so this is something we do together. Sometimes she is “done” before I or the project is, but I adore the time spent with her making memories that will last me a life time. (I hope when she is older she remembers it fondly as well)
My daughters are 11 and 13. We’ve done a great deal of upcycling together over the years. It’s been a great way to teach them to sew and to help them realize that you don’t have to just accept what’s available in the market; you can make things that fit you, your style, and your budget. This book looks like one that would result in awesome parent/child (or grandparent/child) collaborations!
I’d love to see how simple it is to take an unwanted child’s garment and turn it into a treasure. I get compliments on my clothes when I remake a used garment into something that looks chic or classy and wear it. I’m less creative with used clothing for our grandchildren. I’d love to see some new ideas on refashions. It would be fun to have a book like this…full of style and money saving ideas. When it comes to wanting the book, I’m in so I can up-cycle for our grandchildren!
We are grandparents to a soon to be adorable 2-year-old precious little girl. Her mother loves vintage, antiques and all thungs repurposed as do I. I would love to begin making her some cute clothes that are one of a kind.

I am an avid upcycler with four kids and I could really use this book to extend their wardrobes. I am a preschool teacher who loves to sew, loves to upcycle clothing, and loves to help my students learn to recreate.
I wanna’ use ALL my collected fabric, yard sale finds, and thrift store bargains to make quilts, summer and winter clothing for all my grandchildren! I obviously need this great book of ideas to kick start my creative process! I, too, love the ivory one!
