For so long our house was overrun by men. Katie and I were outnumbered for years. Even the dogs were boys. That is, until six years ago when Heather joined our family. Then not too long after that, Brooke came along. YAY! More girls! Don’t get me wrong, I love my men. But girls that will craft with me, there’s nothing like it.
Last Sunday, Heather and Brooke spent the afternoon with me and helped to create a couple of bracelets from this thrifted belt. Heather loves creating jewelry so this was right up her alley.
I love this photo!

Thanks Heather and Brooke for your help and inspiration. I love you!
This is super cute, Beth. I love the orange/turquoise combo.
I thought you might like those bright colors, Jill! Thanks for commenting!
I love this idea but I’m a little confused on how to join the beaded bracelet at the ends.
Hi Pat,
I sewed across at about three inches on either end. Then unbraided the braid and tied the ends together. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Great idea. Love the bracelets.
Thank you so much!!
Thanks, now I understand!
You are so welcome, Pat! Let me know if you have any other questions.
I like the bracelet, but I like the pictures more, especially the last one! You have a lovely family, Beth!
Once again, Jo, you’ve made my day with your sweet comment!
Hey would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using?
I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m
having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different
then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!
I use WordPress.
This is a common way of upcycling old belts and although the seam is necessary the bracelet would appear more finished if you added a form of metal clasp to finish the unfinished end. This is available in a variety of colors and metal finishes and can be found anywhere that jewelry supplies are sold. You may also find some in your favorite sewing shop. Choose one that is the same metal as your buckle. You now have a piece that is professionally finished.
so beautifull,I like it!
