And then there’s Maddie, my neighbor girl.
You know, we all have those kids in our lives. No blood relation but they call you Aunt Beth anyway. Well, Maddie is one of those girls. I watched her grow up into a wonderful young woman. And yesterday I was one proud Auntie!!!
She had a pair of beloved denim shorts that started as jeans and as she grew taller ended up as shorts. But, Maddie just kept growing up and the shorts just kept getting shorter. So instead of just throwing them away, she headed off to the thrift store (be still my heart), found an old shirt with some awesome lace at the bottom (so proud), brought it over and together we made her shorts cute again.
I love you Maddie!!!

This is awesome! 🙂
I thought so, too!
Those are so cute! I love that she’s picking up the torch, as it were. You must be making a great impression (every kid needs a neighbor like you).
Or every neighbor needs a kid like Maddie!!!
Don’t you just love starting another person on a life of crime with scissors and material! My granddaughter is sewing like a fiend….she’s only 14 but she is learning and willing to work at it. Someone to share the love of fabric with.
Oh yes, a life a fabric crimes!!! What could be better??!!!
Great idea and so cute! I work at a high school and many of the girls could use this idea to make their shorts a little longer!! Oh……to be young again!! lol
Yes, that’s what I told Maddie, oh to have her young flawless legs!!!
Legs like that can wear shorts so well!
One creative lass there…………wonder where she got that from then…lol
It was all her idea. She just came over for moral support! I’m so proud!!!
I’d remove the first picture it’s ….
I cropped it, better?
Don’t you just love it! My granddaughter, Maddie, texted me a link to a vintage romper pattern wanting to know if I could help her sew it. Be still my heart!! 🙂
Nothing better than sharing what you love with the people you love!!!
Have fun creating those memories with her, Anny!
So cute! Good job, Maddie. Sewing is something you NEVER regret learning!
And I’d be tickled pink if I could find someone wanting help 🙂
You are so right, Jo! A skill that lasts a lifetime!!
The two of you make a great team! Her ideas, your support, and a wonderful result!
Thank you, we had fun together!
Smart girl that Maddie!! Gets it from her Aunt Beth!
Awwwwww….
Awesome Maddie! I think my Maddie would love a pair of these too!
It was fun and easy to do. Good luck!
