Happy Mother’s Day!

Mother's Day

 My beautiful mom!

Each time I look in the mirror, your eyes smile back at me.

Each time I sew, your hands guide me along.

Each time I fall, your arms lift me up.

Each time I pray, your voice whispers in my ear.

Each time I laugh, your joy envelops me.

Mother's Day

I am one of the fortunate ones.

My mom gave me the biggest gifts a Mother could give. I was safe, warm, protected, cared for, loved, enjoyed and part of an amazing family.

Here’s she is at sixteen. I wish I had her dress!

My mom came from a long line of wonderful women.

Here’s my Grandmother!

And my Great Grandmother!

And here’s my beautiful daughter, Katie. Her grandmothers would be so proud of the wonderful woman, wife, mom and daughter she is. I know I am!!!!

Happy Mother’s Day to all these beautiful women.

I’m proud to say I’m part of this line of amazing women!

Love,

Beth

You’re so lucky to have these beautiful photographs.

    • I was the lucky recipient of many of the family photos. My Great Grandmother had very detailed scrapbooks and I am the keeper of those also. So fun to look through as she was the wife of a General who was the head of West Point for awhile. They lived in Washington DC where he was an Engineer for The Army Corps of Engineers. They were part of Washington High Society and there is even a bridge named after him. Her scrapbooks are filled with letters from presidents and even personal letters to her from Calvin Coolidge’s wife, Grace. It’s fun to think I came from her.

WOW! How wonderful for you to know your interesting history!

        • I have many generations worth of journals, scrapbooks, pictures and letters. I even have a family tree that my great great grandfather had made and it traces my family line directly back to (no kidding) Pocahontas. People never believe me when I say that, but I followed the lineage all the way down and it’s true! I love that I came from that. Wouldn’t it be fun if in the next life we got to meet all of our relatives from generations back. I hope we do.

Ohhhh – amazing! The older I get, the more interested I get in my own history – and everyone else’s history, too. Isn’t that funny? When I was younger I didn’t have a clue 🙂

I still think you need to recreate that dress of you moms some how….maybe making a bit more modern for you, slight cap sleeve shirt with that same embellishments/pattern from the bottom of the dress on the bottom of the shirt, or just recreating a skirt with that same pattern along the bottom, maybe a bit shorter. I have always thought that since its such a classic picture of her & then have one taken of you with your creation, it would be sooooo neat!!!!! Happy Mother’s Day!!!! Heather
