On this Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share a beautiful wedding with you.
Last fall, I was blessed to be the mother of this gorgeous bride.
The rustic chic wedding took place at an amazing restored barn in High Valley, Oregon.
To me, it was magical.
There wasn’t a breath of wind and the setting sunlight was slightly orange as Katie and her dad emerged from the barn, while an old time waltz, played by Evie and Rick Mugrage on fiddle and guitar, echoed off the surrounding hills and mountains.
(I cry just thinking of it).
She looked stunning with the barn, the blue sky, and the green grass as her backdrop.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!
Rustic chic wedding of your daughter is just BEAUTIFUL
Thank you so much. We had so much fun planning and making things for the wedding. I was sad when it was over. I hope you were able to listen to the music, too. The music made it perfect.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Looks just like what my own Daughter always described how she wanted HER Wedding to be.
Thank you, it was definitely a beautiful day!!
Hi! Sorry but I have to ask a silly question, how can I listen to the music? Just pardon me, Just wanna listen to it because as you’ve said, it made it perfect.
There is a triangular shaped button to click on just below the introduction. Let me know if you don’t find it. I’ll cross my fingers and hope it works….
HI! Oh my, the music just made me appreciate more the photos, more significantly the wedding of your lovely daughter. Congratulations for being a mother of a gorgeous bride who just had an amazing wedding. Really love it!
Thank you so much!!! I’m glad the music worked for you.
this is so sweet. her gown is gorgeous!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I hope you were able to hear the music, too!
Beth
Oh, just so beautiful and happy – just like it should be – Loved it.

Such a beautiful setting for a wedding. I love the gorgeous natural scene and the bride is beautiful.
Thanks so much! I hope you got to hear the music too!

What a beautiful wedding! Such a gorgeous setting! Love the little jam jar favours!
Thanks Kerry! We had so much fun!
Beth
Absolutely stunning! Your daughter looked fantastic and the setting couldn’t be better. My cousin’s daughter had her wedding in a renovated barn in upstate NY. It was one of the best weddings I ever attended. I think these non-traditional settings make it so much more intimate and enjoyable.
Wishing much happiness to Katie and Adam! 🙂
Thanks Maura! Enjoy your day!
Beth
Beautiful!! Love the rustic feel!
Oh, thank you so much! To me, the music by Rick and Evie made it perfect. Did the music work for you?
Enjoy your day!
Beth
I absolutely love everything about this wedding! Gorgeous!
I hope you got to hear the music, too! That made it perfect! Thanks for visiting!
Beth
your daughter’s wedding was absolutely beautiful. what a memorable event that must have been 🙂
It was so much fun, from the engagement (a surprise on Christmas morning, in my living room) to the planning, then the making of the invitations, bunting flags, and jams for favors. Decorating the barn and setting everything up. I was so sad when it was all over……. But now….I get to be a grandma in October…something new to look forward to…YAY!
Thanks for the visit! BTW I really enjoy your blog, too!
Enjoy your day.
Beth

I love the picutures and the country theme throughout. I like the jam as gifts for the guests. That is a great idea. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
You are so welcome! We had so much fun making everything for the wedding. I was sad to see it end, but now……. I’m going to be a grandma!!!
Beth
Congrats! I follow Mango Tomato on twitter. She posted this and I have yet to try it. http://www.mangotomato.com/2011/12/is-it-easy-to-can-canned-port-sauce.html?m=1 I found a moonshine jam as well on a trip through the rual hills of Virginia. I’m looking more into recipes of wine or booze enfused jams with fruit and such.
I’ll check it out. Thanks for the link!
Beth
Wonderful pictures. What a fun wedding. Our daughter had a similar type wedding in September 2006 at my dad’s ranch. So much fun.
Dear Kathy,
I bet your daughter’s wedding was beautiful, too. I’d love to see pictures!
Beth
LOVED the music….so moving! Such a beautiful wedding….thank you for allowing to see a glimpse of the happy day!
You are so welcome Helen! I’m glad you were able to hear the music, it really made it special. I enjoyed the day (well really the whole process) so much, I wanted to share it with everyone. Now, I’m going to be a grandma! I can’t wait!
Enjoy your day!
Beth
Beautiful!!!
I absolutely love it!
That barn and country rustic theme is totally my cup of tea.
Skylar
Thank you, Skylar! We had so much fun, I really didn’t want it to end! And it was even more special because Katie’s dad is the craftsman that restored the barn.
Happy Friday to you!
Beth
Now THAT is exactly what a wedding should be like!
Thank you! We thought so, too!
It’s so nice to see more people pushing back against contemporary “traditions” and the wedding “industry” and doing what they like. Your wedding is so charming it makes me smile. I think I scandalized my new in-laws when we chose to have a quite non-traditional outside wedding back in the 80’s, but it wasn’t for THEM, bit was for US, and we are still together.
I’d love to know what your wedding was like.

Beth, just discovered your blog – thank you for sharing the photos & wonderful music from your daughters wedding. What a magical day! We had violin, flute, & hammer dulcimer with a similar tune for our wedding in 1991, & when people recall our wedding they always comment on how much they loved the music.
Hi Joyce,
Welcome to my little corner of the blogoshere. I hope you’ll be able to come back again for a visit sometime.
I bet your wedding was beautiful. I love that Celtic music, too!
Have a great day!
Beth
Oh, just Beautiful! Love It!
Thank you, Lynn! We had a wonderful time.
Planning my own daughter’s rustic wedding and find myself coming back to this post over and over again. The simple but elegant beauty of it all just captures my heart. What is the name of the song/musicians playing in the background?
Thank you, Wendy and congratulations on your daughter’s upcoming wedding. The song is an old time waltz called Jim and Judy’s Wedding. Rick and Evie Mugrage (the musicians that played at Katie’s wedding) didn’t have a recording so I just downloaded this one from itunes. It’s the same song Rick and Evie played as Katie walked from the barn with her dad. They also played during the cocktail hour and during dinner. It was so beautiful. Thanks for commenting, it always makes me watch this again and relive this wonderful day.

Beth – How interesting to come across my son’s former kindergarten teacher (he’s now in 5th grade) on Pintrest. I will have to show Cooper! Love the ideas!
Cari Markham.
Hi Cari! It’s a small world isn’t it. I’ve run into your dad a couple of times, but I never see your mom any more. How are you? I can’t believe Cooper is in fifth grade already. Say hi to him!
Beth
wow…i just love the pics….made me feel like i was a guest at the wedding! congrats to your family and thanks for sharing…..
Thanks so much for visiting, Jan! It really was a wonderful day!
This is so lovely!…. Unique wedding ideas inspire me and it what makes it so special. My husband and I plans to have a wedding (a special one like this) in the future. It could be on our 10th or 25th year anniversary.
Thank you and good luck with your wedding!
Beautiful wedding, I am in process of helping my niece with her wedding. Would love to know about the hay bale seating. What type fabric did you use and how did you secure it? Congratulations on new grandbaby!
Thanks, Denise! The fabric was canvas. We secured it with some kind of metal pins. I can’t remember what they were called but I’ll try to find out and let you know. Have fun with the wedding planning!
Beth
Merel
Dank je wel, Merel! We hadden een geweldige dag!
Oh, what a beautiful wedding! My daughter just got engaged, so that wedding tab caught my eye. The ceremony will be next to our barn and we were considering hay bales as seating! Love the bunting on the barn – I’m filing that idea away for next summer! 😉
Thank you, Staci! Did you listen to the music, too? We had so much fun. You are welcome to borrow the bunting if you’d like. I made it and it’s just been sitting in the box waiting for another event.
You’re so right about the music! If this was my wedding, I would definitely take you up on the bunting because there would be red everywhere, but my girl is going with yellow and grey. Thank you very much for the offer though!
You are so welcome!!!
The music and pictures were breathtaking beautiful and so heartfelt. Wishing all you many blessings!
Thanks so much, Michele!

What a ‘simply elegant’ and beautiful wedding! I love the setting…gorgeous dress and all!
Thank you, Victoria. We really enjoyed everything about the day!!
Lovely wedding, and what a gorgious idea to make jam the wedding fav’s! I’ll keep that in mind for a certain occasion I hope will take place, somewhere in the future ( if you get my drift…)
Thank you, Alexandra! We had a wonderful time and now we have a cute little grandson to snuggle with. 🙂
Wishing you the best!
Beth
It was really beautiful mam..I enjoyed all the images that you’ve made.
Thank you!
going to try to make the t-shirt shrug, and checked out the wedding pictures. neat. home setting and home spun and all together lovely. congratulations to the couple and their team.
Thank you so much!
Love all your ideas, love barns. This was beautiful. I wonder what the fruit jars were, though?
Thank you, Shelley. The fruit jars were homemade jams for wedding favors.
I mean the bigger jars that had lemon in one, limes in the other..etc… My son is getting married in August so I was looking for ideas:)
Oh, we had lemonade, limeade, and orange juice in the big jars.
Love your post and the beautiful wedding. Love, love , love the music. Congratulations on all accounts!! Enjoy the grand baby!!!!
Thank you so much, Miriam!
Thank you so much for sharing your daughter’s beautiful wedding. Other than the wonderful barn setting, the beautiful Celtic music reminded me of our wedding, in 1986, and reception, with Scottish Country dancing. Hearing the music and seeing the pictures brings back a lot of happy memories! And congratulations on your future grandbaby!
Thank you so much, Margaret! I bet your wedding was beautiful and there is nothing like Celtic music to bring emotion and fun to an event!
This looks so lovely! What/who is the music you have playing with this?
Hi Treva,
The song is called Jim and Judy’s Wedding.
After seeing all your beautiful pictures I want to forget all my grown kids and remarry the man that I have been married to for 40 years (18 kids later) in the same setting!
Oh wow, Bonnie! 40 years and 18 kids…you deserve another wedding, a big beautiful wedding of your dreams!!!!

I know this is years later but it was lively watching and listening. Beautiful. Did you make all that jam? You are right-the dress you refashioned would have been great!
Meant to type LOVELY — not lively. 🙃
So funny because I read that as lovely…
Thank you so much for your nice comment Becky! I did make all the jam. I didn’t mind a bit because I love making jam. 🙂
Over here in England and – late to the party – have just watched your daughter’s wedding video. Absolutely stunning! Amazing backdrop, beautiful music and everyone was having a blast!
Thank you so much Ann! I still tear up when I watch this. Now they have two beautiful children. ❤ ❤ ❤
