eHow #ProjectThrowdown: These Boots Are Made For Walkin’

What do you get when eHow asks you to put a project together and the only rules are to mix lace, feathers, jeans and an old keychain?

Why some boots of course!

I was asked to participate in eHow’s #ProjectThrowdown.

They chose 6 bloggers to create something from lace, old jeans, feathers and an old keychain. We could do anything we wanted with those items and were allowed to add to the list. When we finished, we were to post a step-by-step tutorial on our sites.

They are going to publish a round up of the projects on eHow tomorrow and post a promoted pin.

The project with the most repins wins.

Soooooooooooooooo……

you know what I’ll be doing…..

I’ll be begging for you to go over there and pin their post of this project tomorrow.

(Oops, are my competitive pants showing?)

Jeans, lace, feathers and a keychain were the required items.

eHow-Project-Throwdown-Materials

Boots, an old tablecloth, and some belts were added to the list.

Remove the seams from the jeans by cutting close to each side of the seam.

eHow-Project-Throwdown-cut-seams

Cut a 32″ by 16″ piece of fabric.

eHow-Project-Throwdown-cut-fabric

Fold it in half lengthwise with the right sides together and sew a 1/4 inch seam down the side.

eHow-Project-Throwdown-sew

Turn the piece right side out and press with a hot iron.

eHow-Project-Throwdown-press

Lay the piece out flat.

Fold over 8 inches and continue folding over 8 inches until you get to the end of the fabric to create a fabric tube.

Use a hot glue gun to glue the end down.

eHow-Project-Throwdown-hot-glue

Glue the lace to the bottom of the fabric tube.

Slide the fabric tube over the top of your boot with the lace at the bottom. Wrap the denim seam around the boot and attach with a hot glue gun.

Slide the keychain onto a skinny belt.

Wrap the belt around the boot, add some more belts and adjust them until you get the look you like. If the belts slip down too far, you can use the glue gun to attach them or use a needle and thread to secure them in place.

The beauty of this project is that they don’t have to match. Use completely different belts on the other boot for a fun bohemian look.
