Yay! It’s summer, the season of the T-shirt.
Can you hear a collective T-shirt cheer as they’re all unearthed from the bottom of drawers and the backs of closets around the country? Unfortunately, thousands of these perfectly good T-shirts will be donated or thrown away to make way for new clothing. Well this month, let’s save a few of them from the rag bag by sprucing them up and making them a little more modern.
A flattering peplum is a good place to start.
The first thing you need to do is find one T-shirt that fits you well on the top and another coordinating shirt that has lots of fabric on the bottom. You can really get creative here by using two different colors, stripes, polka dots or different patterns. Just have fun.

The winner of the Starfish scarf is:
Christy Scarboro

great idea! i have so many t-shirts from the various organizations i volunteer with that i’ve run out of ideas for them and i’m not a big t-shirt wearer. yay- thanks for the solution idea. peace
Oh rats! I didn’t win the starfish scarf, bummer! Congrats Christy you lucky dog! Love your t-shirt tutorial! I want to try to make some tank tops from some old t-shirts, but not sure how those would turn out! I am not as crafty as you are with sewing. ❤
Love your stuff wish I could sew like you thank you for your blog
Love the peplum idea. Another good way to use those huge t shirts some of us on hand is to treat it like yardage. You can trace off a pattern from a t shirt that fits you and resew the old huge one. I did that with two huge t shirts my brother sent me. And I wear the resulting t shirt all the time. (http://nowsewing.blogspot.com/2013/09/but-will-i-wear-it.html)
I love the simplicity of this refashion, not too froo-froo frilly but still cute!! I would wear this =>
You can’t go wrong with a peplum, such a flattering style!
I’m wearing peplum today actually! I love the look, it can be so flattering on so many people. Great DIY idea!
