It’s finally here!
Season Two of Refashion Runway.
Once again, it was so difficult to choose from all of the talented seamstresses who tried out. Thank you to everyone who auditioned and I hope if you aren’t a part of this season, you’ll sew along with us and possibly join us for Season Three.
I’d like to inroduce the next group of talented and creative women who are getting ready to wow you with their amazing refashions for season two.
Meet Susan, a fellow Oregonian, from Second Chances. I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time and I was thrilled when she agreed to be a part of Refashion Runway. She has been lucky enough to have her beautiful refashions published in Altered Couture Magazine which is something I’d love to do someday!
***
Next, meet Trisha, a fellow teacher who lives in beautiful Hawaii. What an inspirational place to live. How lucky is she!!! Trisha has definitely caught the “refashioning bug” and blogs about her amazing refashion adventures on her blog Feeling Kinda Thrifty.
***
Meet the adorable Carissa from Carissa Knits, who recently changed her lifestyle and eating habits and lost a whopping 75 pounds!!! Wow, such an accomplishment. Instead of buying a whole new wardrobe every 15-20 pounds, she resolved to remake things she had or refashion thrift store finds. Some garments were redone multiple times over the course of her weight loss journey – from simply being taken in to complete structural overhauls.
***
Meet the enthusiastic Lauren from Adventures of Lauren. Who knew that a beautiful scientist/belly dancer like Lauren would also be able to create amazing refashions like this:
***
I’m excited to welcome Magda all the way from Portugal who blogs about her sewing on House of Estrela. Her beautiful work has been featured all over the blogosphere and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us!
***
Meet Joelle, the Eco Wardrobe Warrior, a generous and creative seamstress, who shares her love of sewing and refashioning by teaching workshops and classes. Not only does she sew, but she creates beautiful jewelry as well.
***
Meet Deanna from Wedding Dress Blue. Deanna sews the most beautiful quilts and had fun sewing along with us during the first season of Refashion Runway. You might recognize her fun Barbie “copycat” refashion from last season.
***
Now meet Desarae from Gladness of Heart. She just learned how to sew this past February! And I’m amazed at what she can already do. She has fallen head over heels for sewing and refashioning. I love the way she thinks. “Each project is a challenge…the opportunity to try something I haven’t before, learn new techniques, and gain knowledge about works and what doesn’t, both technically and fashionably for myself.” Although she didn’t send her “sew alongs” to me to post last season, she sewed along with every challenge and posted the projects on her blog.
***
I just know this beautiful and talented group of women will create some inspirational refashions. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us!
So we can all get started on our “sew alongs” here is the list of the weekly challenges:
Week One: Plaid
Week Two: Pantone 2013 Color Emerald Green
Week Three: Peplum
Week Four: Leather
Week Five: Halloween
Week Six: Winter White
As you can see, I’ve left the challenges fairly open ended. Just remember, each garment must be original (in other words not posted on your blog already) and have a before and after picture. Also, please remember, this is a “refashion” competition so your garment must be constructed from a previous item of some kind. I’ll be sending a schedule via email to all the contestants.
Week One creations will be posted next Saturday and you can begin voting for your favorites.
If you are “sewing along” with us, send your before and after pictures to bhunting@eoni.com. We want to see your creations, too!
One last item, if you are competing or sewing along, and you have a blog, so we can get the word out, please place a link to The Renegade Seamstress in your sidebar with this image:
Good luck and your challenge starts…….
RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Beth
I can’t wait to see what everyone has up their refashioned sleeves Beth! Thanks for hosting again!!!
My pleasure, Mary!!
I think you need to pitch this idea to The Project Runway folks. If you are interested, I have a contact here that could let me know how to make it happen. She has worked on other food network and lifetime shows and knows the ins and outs!
Oh my gosh, Mary, that would be great!! Let’s talk more about this through email!!!
I am so excited to see the Season Two starting! I know I will be glued to the computer every Saturday to see the new refashions and vote for my favorite. So much fun, thanks for hosting this again.
You are so welcome, Ingrid. I get so much enjoyment out of this, it’s so worth it!!

This is so much fun, I can’t wait to see all the plaid entries!
I’m looking forward to that, too. I’ve been seeing plaid all over the runways. Even Project Runway had a winning look made from plaid last week.
I’m so excited! It’s like I’ve been in Project Runway withdrawal! 🙂
I’ve been in Refashion Runway withdrawal, too. This is going to be another fun season!!
Have been thinking lots about you. How was the fashion shoot in CA?? Can’t wait to hear all about it. As my email suggests: always in awe of you!!
Smooch
Hey sweetie!! I’m still on cloud nine after my trip last weekend! Those girls were AMAZING!!! I loved being around their creative energy and watching them work together. I seriously didn’t want the weekend to end. I’ve got your hat, so let’s make plans to get together soon.
Love you!!!
I can’t wait for the next season!! I’m so excited!
Me, too! I love seeing what everyone comes up with for the challenges. Always so different and fun.
I’m so excited to see what everyone comes up with! Hopefully I will be able to sew along at some point (I just did a plaid refashion like a week ago, otherwise I totally would’ve submitted it for sew along!). So good to see that this is continuing and I’m excited to be on the spectator end this time!
Hey, Miche! Go ahead and send it for a sew along. I’d love to post it and link it to your site!
I am so excited about this 2nd season! I loved the first season! Thanks to everyone.

How exciting!! I can’t wait to see what these lovely ladies will create! I was trying to sew along to Season 1 but I was on holidays and my sewing machine does not fit in my backpack. Hopefully I can sew along properly for Season 2!

What are those DARLING red shoes you’re wearing in the top photo?
Aren’t they so cute! I love them, too! I bought them at a consignment shop for my daughter’s wedding. They are Fioni shoes. Someone told me they found some on ebay a while back.
