Make the World a Better Place, One Refashion at a Time

I love it when our hobbies go so far as to benefit other people.

Patti Gagstetter was inspired by The Renegade Seamstress’s Refashion Runway to arrange a benefit show and sale along with her local PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization) to raise money for Women’s Scholarships in Greenwood, South Carolina.

The funds from this event will be used to provide scholarships for women in
the Greenwood area – high school seniors entering college, women displaced
from their jobs and seeking to earn a new degree, and/or women who have had
their education interrupted and want to complete their degrees. The number
and size of the scholarship(s) granted depend upon the success of this and
other fundraisers.

Even though I don’t live near her, I’m still planning on helping with this great cause and I hope you will, too.

They are collecting all kinds of holiday and basic clothing pieces in August
and September. Seamstresses from a local wedding/prom store are then going
to choose 10 outfits to refashion and another 10
outfits they will just accessorize with scarves, belts, jewelry, purses,
etc.

They will have a slide presentation of the “Before” and then the model will
walk out in the Refashioned outfit.

As guests to the event walk up the “Red Carpet Runway” to the stage/seating
area, they will also have mannequins dressed up in re-fashioned clothing with
a “before” picture attached to it so that the guests get in on the fun right from
the front door.

They will earn scholarship funds through ticket sales, sales of the
refashioned clothing items and racks of donated items just waiting to be
refashioned!

Fashion Show

Here’s how you can help:

You can donate a refashioned item for her to sell for this good cause. Each item should include your name/address/phone or e-mail along with a “before” picture, the completed item, and a suggested value for the item to be sold during the sale following the fashion show. Please send your item to:

She will send you a photo following the event showing your item(s).

You can contact Patti at pgagstetter@gmail.com

Together, let’s make this world a better place, one refashion at a time.

Thanks in advance for participating!
