A name change: The Renegade Seamstress

As you probably noticed from yesterday’s post, I’m trying on a new name for size.

Now that I’ve had a chance to look in the mirror a bit, I think I’m going to slip into this one, it feels much more comfortable.

I had some nice people give me some feedback and I’m wondering what you think.

If you have a spare moment, I’d love to hear what you think about the new name……

The Renegade Seamstress

  1. The name is cool. In my opinion whatever you name your blog is fine. Your content and the easy way you show how to create great fashions from other people hand me downs, speaks volumes.

  2. I think it’s a great name!

  3. Yep, love it!!! Now you sound…..Tuff and dangerous but still a girl!

  4. I love the renegade part, but seriously think you need to put refashion in there somehow. I have tried to think of how, but….THAT is what is so awesome about your work…you turn things people thought were done into something amazing and give it new life!!!! Just my opinion…..to refashion you need to be a seamstress but not all seamstresses CAN refashion!!! THAT is your expertise and the new name should reflect that…..:)

I think the name fits better for what your blog is about. Love your work. At first glance I thought the original one said chicken something 🙂

  11. I like the Renegrade Seamtress but think you need a catchy tagline, such as ..hopping on the refashion bandwagon… or something similar so readers will quickly know what you’re about

  12. Much more fitting title! Keep it 🙂

    • Dear Cara,
Since you use words to paint amazing pictures, your comment means so much to me. I loved the idea of renegade meaning to do something in an unconventional way, because I am far from sewing like the pros. I just start swingin’ my rope, holler out a big “yee haw”, then start cutting and stitching away. I get much more satisfaction sewing this way than reading and following a pattern. I’m sure trained sewists cringe when they see how I do some of this.
Thanks again for taking the time to give me your opinion!
Hope all is well with you,
      Beth

I like your new name a lot. It’s very memorable. I could never remember your old name so I just bookmarked it on my computer.

    • I know what you mean about the old name. I used to have a small business making custom invitations and handmade cards with fabric envelopes. Hence the name, Chic Envelopements. When I jumped into this blogging thing I thought I might do something with all that again, but this adventure has gone in such a different and delightful direction. So a name change was in order. Thanks for taking the time to comment. It means so much!

  19. I almost deleted your post because I didn’t recognize the name. I like the new name. It just takes that initial getting used to seeing the change in my inbox.

You have my vote! “break with established customs” is one of the definitions of Renegade – which you do by refashioning clothing. But I like “goodbyevalentino’s” suggestion to add a tagline using refashion, refashioning or some such. Keep great clothing ideas coming 🙂

  21. patsquared2 says:

It’s perfect! The name fits you better than chic envelopments. And I’m much more inclined to open and read your emails since I’m a renegade myself.! Well done, you.
