My beautiful mom!
Each time I look in the mirror, your eyes smile back at me.
Each time I sew, your hands guide me along.
Each time I fall, your arms lift me up.
Each time I pray, your voice whispers in my ear.
Each time I laugh, your joy envelops me.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Love,
Beth
Very beautiful, very nice. Amazing dress. Did you mom sew?
Thanks, Barb.
Isn’t this dress cool. I love it!
Although I don’t believe she made this dress, my mom was an amazing seamstress.
She sewed for the fun of it and instilled in me the love of all things handmade.
I can still remember the pink corduroy pants suit she made for me in the third grade. And of course there were the matching dresses she made for my sister and me.
Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday!!!
Beth
Stunning! Your eyes looked the same. Happy Mother’s day Beth. I have received your beautiful fabric flowers. I will write a blog about it soon.
I always think of it as a compliment when someone tells me I look like my mom. She was a beautiful woman with a joyful soul.
I’m so glad you got the flowers.
Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday!
Beth
You’re gonna make me tear up…sniff sniff.
I teared up a few times when I was writing this as well.
Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday!
Beth
You too! Happy Mother’s Day!
Wow~It’s soooo touching T-T
🙂
Beth
Beautiful picture and beautiful words. I had a minor panic I’d missed Mothers day… but of course ours is different… phew! 🙂
Thanks, Janene!
No need to panic, Mother’s Day isn’t until Sunday here either. I jumped the gun a bit because I’m not sure I’ll be able to post anything this weekend.
Beth
So so pretty. Wow. I just love the look and the feel it gives of women of that time. When is Mother’s Day where you are? I still have 2 days to plan…
This photo was taken in 1940. I so wish I still had that dress. I think it’s amazing. I do have the necklace she is wearing though.
Mother’s Day isn’t until Sunday here. I posted a little early because I wasn’t sure I’d be able to post on Sunday.
Enjoy your day in Copenhagen!
Beth
Oh, so same as here.
I can understand about the dress. It is reallt pretty. Maybe your mother can remember fabrics and wether it was bought or made – and then you can copy it. Vogue and butterick have some very good – and not too pricy vintage patterns.
Still not the same I know…my familiy is very much into the passing on spirit of things. So we give away things we don’t use – meaning – nothing is saved from that time i my family 😦
Enjoy your weekend – and Mother’s Day
Jane
You mom looks fabulous! She also has on a wonderful dress!!
Dear Kelli,
Isn’t that dress amazing!!!!! I so wish I still had it. I do still have the necklace though. Maybe I’ll wear it on Sunday.
I love this picture of my mom she really was a beautiful woman with a joyful soul.
Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday!
Beth
Stunning! Was your mom a movie star?
🙂 She does look a bit like a movie star in this photo doesn’t she.
Although being in the movies wasn’t in her destiny, she was a Rock Star in my book!
Happy Friday!
Beth
Very pretty mom. Love the poem it says it all. 🙂
Thank you, that means so much coming from an excellent poet like you!
Enjoy your day!
Beth

Lovely mom and lovely dress!

Wonderful tribute to Mom! She was the best! Happy Mother’s Day to my dear sister!
What a beautiful picture of your mom:)
My goodness, Beth, she is lovely! And truthfully, I kid you not, as I looked at her picture, and yours via the button off to the side, the resemblance between the two of you is a strong one indeed. Thank you for sharing your love for her with us. 🙂
Your mother is absolutely stunning and her dress only just less so. A wonderful tribute!
Sooooo elegant! I have similar photos of my Mum in the 40’s. They really knew how to dress up in those days 🙂 Mother’s Day, here in the UK, is in March. Thank you for sharing. Avis x
Boy do I wish I still had some of her clothes and my Grandmother’s! Wouldn’t we have fun with them today!!!!
Enjoy your day!
Beth
Dear Beffer, I see you in your mother’s face. Two beautiful mothers. We all were fortunate to have her in our lives.
And we are fortunate to have you in our lives as well! What an enchanted childhood we all had in the Arden Hills neighborhood thanks to moms like you.
Happy Mother’s Day, Liz!!!!

What a beautiful photograph and what a classy-looking lady! I want that dress 😉
No, seriously, I really, really want that dress.
I know….I soooooo wish I had that dress, too! I actually wish I had my Grandmother’s whole wardrobe. She was one classy lady, too!
I see that you said that this was taken in 1940. Was she really only 13? Can you imagine us looking like that at 13?!
I know! Crazy, huh!
She js beautiful and I love, love, love her dress.
Thanks so much Sue!! I miss her very much!
