My very first post

I can’t even tell you how excited I am to be joining the blog world.

A few of my thrift store finds.

My local thrift store was having a great holiday sale; if you donated 4 cans of food you’d get a free garbage bag full of clothes. Needless to say, I stocked up for my new refashioning hobby. (Sorry about the picture quality, I have since purchased a new camera, so I hope the quality will be a little better)

This all started when my daughter introduced me to Pinterest. I was fascinated by all the creative and talented people refashioning clothes. So I decided to give it a try. Now I’m completely hooked! I started with making some clothes for my 3 year old grand daughter from my thrift store purchases. Here are the after pictures:

Brooke’s new wardrobe!

This outfit used a women’s turtleneck, and a couple of t-shirts.

Just cut down a women’s t shirt to make this dress for Brooke. Looks so cute with leggings. (Now if you’re wondering why I don’t have any pictures of her wearing these, well, because most of the pictures I tried to take were blurry because as most 3 year olds, she’s got things to do and people to see. 🙂 ) Now that I have my new camera I promise to try to get some pictures of her wearing the clothes.

I’d have to say this is one of my favorite first attempts at refashioning. I LOVE LOVE LOVE making hats! The only problem is, I’m not so sure Brooke loves wearing them. 😦 Oh well, maybe this will be my first give away.

My daughter thought I was nuts when I put the huge dirty green coat in my bag at the thrift store. But once I washed it, I loved the green fabric. This was the first time I sewed anything without a pattern. It was then I knew I was hooked. I’m not so much a precision seamstress so this is right up my alley. I guess I consider myself a renegade seamstress. This might also be a give away because it’s too small for Brooke.

Got these shirts at the thrift store and made them into an out fit for Brooke:

I had to cut everything down to fit a three year old. Made one shirt into a skirt and combined the other shirts into one.

I’m downloading some more photos but I have to go get some firewood right now so I’ll post more later.

I want to encourage you to continue making more refashion creations. Not having a very creativly inclined group of friends the internet seems to be my only way of getting inspiration or getting a creative battery jump. Love how many pictures you take of the process as you go. I hope you have much interest in your blog. i will be bookmarking you and returning to get inspiration.
