Surprise Yourself and Learn How to Make a Crinoline or a Petticoat

I totally missed the fifties and the petticoat era.

And to be honest, I never thought I missed anything.

Nope, didn’t miss a thing.

Until…

I MADE ONE

and wore it under this circle skirt, and I was thinkin’ to myself,

“Hmmmm…you are lookin’ pretty good in that skirt!”

And off we went to take some photos.

Then you know what?

As my sweet ruggedly handsome husband was taking pictures, he says,

“You should wear that kind of skirt more, it looks great on you!”

Yes! He really did!

Hmmmmm…I feel more circle skirts and crinolines comin’ on in my very near future. Both more flattering than I ever imagined.

We have a green 52 Oldsmobile that my dad bought new. We put it in car shows. I am hoping to put together a couple outfits when we go from that year. This inspires me.

    • This would be perfect for that, Cindy! I was wishing I had a vintage car use when we took these pictures. Have fun and let me know if I can help in any way. I’m hoping to do a circle skirt tutorial soon, too.

  3. Very cute idea! Love the polka dots. Feel free to check out our blog, http://www.twinspiration.co 🙂

Cute. I have slips I’ve purchased from a local boutique vendor, which have 2 layers of lace at the bottom (instead of netting). These aren’t as poufy as a crinoline, but do add some body to my skirts. Also, if I have a skirt that is shorter than the slip, the lace shows. 🙂

Love the crinoline. So easy making it from a slip.

  6. I have to say that every time I see someone sporting a crinoline, it makes the skirt look fantastic, and yours in no exception. It just make A-lines have just the right poof.

That’s a great idea. I think skirts, long ones are making a come back. I couldn’t figure out what you had in your face?

  8. I love a circle skirt, what a great addition 🙂

Loving you in that skirt. I was just in the fabric store looking for slipcover fabric & saw crinoline and wondered what to do with it…well, there you go & do it again!!

  10. I love this look on you! I never thought of wearing a crinoline myself. I wonder if it would feel itchy or scratchy. Beautiful photos, and the whole outfit is fabulous, flirty, and fun.

What a great look on you! And don’t you love it when your fella volunteers what they like in the line of clothing?!
